Welcome and Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Birth is beautiful and passionate and powerful. Birthing women are an amazing force to be reckoned with.
Prajna [pronounced praaj^na] is a Sanskrit word meaning, "Consciousness, Awareness and Transcendent Wisdom"
The journey to Birth is a deeply personal one. A woman comes to her pregnancy and birth with her own unique blend of hopes, dreams, and experiences. She may have researched and planned; full of knowledge and specific ideas about her birth. She may arrive here feeling as if she knows little; uncertain of how things will go, what to expect, or how she will make her decisions. She may come from an individual, family, or cultural tradition in which birth is seen as normal and natural or she may come from traditions in which birth is faced with fear, anxiety, and a desire to let outside forces take control.
There is delight. There is worry. There is wonder and excitement. There is doubt. How can she trust this space she has never before inhabited? How can she believe that her body is capable and strong? How will her partner help her to cope? How will this new life change their family?
There is her baby. Growing and changing within. Knowing just what to do. There is her heart, hearing the quiet beat of another. Her uterus cradling; stretching. Her pelvis relaxing. Making way for birth. Knowing just what to do.
And there are the countless women, come before her. Unique and yet part of the "Transcendent Wisdom" of birthing creatures everywhere. Powerful and Passionate. Beautiful and Strong.
Like You.
